His Kingdom Come!

1 Corinthians 3:16

“Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you?”

The past couple of days, I have been seeing the Lord move in ways that have been so incredible. Most have been small, little things that you really have to pay attention to see, but all from the Lord, showing His character. People have randomly spoken encouragements, donations made to a friends’ ministry, prayers answered, community surrounded, and so much more. God is so good!

Do you ever wonder why it feels so amazing to see God move? Most of the time, prayers are answered, and God moves through His people, the church. This is because His Spirit lives inside of them as we, the church, are His temple. His kingdom, not totally, but somewhat come through His Spirit in us. It is so amazing to see Him move in this way, through His people, because that is what we were made to experience. We were made to dwell with God and live in His presence. This happens when It’s God’s kingdom come! And this can happen in part, when we show love to one another, through the Spirit, as His temple. It’s God’s kingdom come!

Before Jesus Christ came down from heaven, lived in perfection, and sacrificed Himself for our sins in death raising us with Him to new life, and the Spirit of God came upon all who believed, God’s presence lived within the temple. It was contained inside a golden box, in the holiest of holy places and people who touched it would actually die if they were not clean. God is just that holy, He cannot even be in the presence of our imperfection.

So how can His Spirit dwell inside us? People who are full of sin and guilt and other evils that deserve death?

The answer to this question is that Jesus Christ was our substitute. God sees us, in Jesus’ perfection. In God’s eyes we are perfect and our sin, when repented, is completely forgotten! How incredible is that! This allows the Holy Spirit to literally dwell inside our hearts. We can become His temple. We can be His, oh so loved by Him.

In this, we have responsibility to show others who Christ is. Go encourage a friend, let someone in when in bad traffic, generously share what God blesses you with, invite someone from church over for dinner. Let God’s kingdom come in you!
